N.H. 6-year-old medflighted Sunday after sledding accident

What was supposed to be a day of sledding fun off of Horse Hill Road in Marlborough, New Hampshire, with family and friends turned into a scary situation involving a 6-year-old girl on Sunday.
Bella Melendy was medflighted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. She was found unconscious after gliding down a popular hill, and emergency responders were called around 12:13 p.m., Marlborough Police Sgt. Zachary Byam said in an interview. Officials believe she may have hit a rock or a tree.
Those on scene were able to carry Bella halfway back up the hill using her sled to stabilize her, Byam said. An ambulance brought her to Marlborough Elementary School, where the helicopter landed. Bella did regain consciousness and was talking with medical officials.
“She is doing much better,” Kayla Wooster, Bella’s aunt, told Boston.com Tuesday via Facebook.
Wooster posted a photo on social media of her niece walking Tuesday afternoon. She also created a crowd-sourcing fundraiser for Bella and her family to help with expenses. In it, she said Bella’s injuries included multiple fractures to her skull, a neck injury, and a fractured jaw.
