New TV Spot and Poster for ‘The Lion
King’ Remind Us of Simba’s Return This Summer
In the midst of last night’s Oscars event (which you can get caught up
on here), Disney unveiled their latest look at Jon Favreau‘s CG-animated remake
of the 1994 classic, The Lion King. There’s not much in the way of new footage
or material here, but it does feature the stirring first few bars of the iconic
“Circle of Life” song and another helping of super-cute Simba. We’ll have to
wait a bit longer to see and hear more, but the next few months should bring
plenty more surprises.
Starring Donald Glover, Beyonce, Keegan Michael-Key, Billie Eichner,
James Earl Jones, Chiwitel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard, Eric André,
Florence Kasumba, John Oliver, John Kani, JD McCrary, and Shahadi Wright
Joseph, The Lion King arrives in theaters on July 19th.
Check out the new TV spot for The Lion King below, followed by a brand
new poster:
Here is the full synopsis for The Lion King:
“From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King”
journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his
father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone
in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and
former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is
ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s
exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to
figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star
cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel
Ejiofor as Scar, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon and Seth
Rogen as Pumbaa. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured
characters to life in a whole new way, “The Lion King” roars into theaters
on July 19, 2019.”

The Lion King puts Mufasa front and
center in new poster
Leave it to Mufasa to steal the show at the Oscars.
During the 2019 Academy Awards, the upcoming Lion King remake debuted a
new teaser, followed closely by director Jon Favreau sharing a new poster.
Although there wasn’t new footage in the teaser, the poster gives fan a better
look at Mufasa after the first trailer only showed him briefly. From the looks
of the image in the poster, the setting is reminiscent of the location of
Zazu’s “Morning Report” in the original film, though the time of day is a bit off.
One thing is certain: No matter the moment, Mufasa is, without a doubt,
imparting wisdom on his son.

Jones returning as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as
Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa,
and Billy Eichner as Timon.
The Lion King hits theaters July 19, 2019. See the poster below.
