Coronation Street: Amy Barlow decides to secretly ABORT her baby

Coronation Street teen Amy Barlow made the drastic decision to abort her unborn baby in Monday's night show, following a candid chat with Bethany Platt.
The underage mother-to-be dropped the bombshell after a chat with the baby's father and gang member Tyler, who insisted he wants 'nothing to do' with the child.
As Amy admits she will go ahead with the termination without telling mum Tracy and dad Steve, the episode ended on a cliffhanger with Bethany asking if it was truly the right decision.
Shocking: Coronation Street teen Amy Barlow made the drastic decision to abort her unborn baby in Monday's night show
In the dramatic episode, Amy (played by Elle Mulvaney) finally comes face-to-face with Tyler (Will Barnett) after discovering that she is pregnant, having already made a plan with her parents that they will adopt the child.
Of course Amy is clueless that her mum Tracy (Kate Ford) offered Tyler £5,000 to stay away from her and the baby, as he previously said he wanted to be in his child's life.
Tracy then called the police to report Tyler for underage sex, but despite Amy giving a formal statement she insisted their relationship was consensual.

Tense: Tyler severs all ties to his unborn baby, after Amy's mum tries to bribe him with £5,000 to stay away from her daughter
When Amy discovered her mum's deception she furiously ran off to the station, where she was once again met by Tyler.
The gang member now insisted she should decide what to do with their child, and should she follow through with the pregnancy he wants 'nothing to do' with them.
This all led to Amy having a heart-to-heart with Bethany (Lucy Fallon), who herself has been through some rough times after being groomed as a teen.
At odds: Amy had originally decided to keep the baby after her mum Tracy and Dad Steve suggested they adopt the child
Tense: Monday's show closed with Amy sharing a candid chat with Bethany, and soon drops the bombshell that she wants to abort her baby
Amy then dropped the ultimate bombshell - she had decided to abort her baby the following day and would not be telling her parents.
Despite Bethany questioning whether it was right to go ahead with the procedure in secret, Amy seemed adamant that she would not be going through with the pregnancy.
It now remains to be seen whether Amy will decide to go through with the abortion, though spoilers for next week - which see her refuse to attend a scan - suggest otherwise.

BLOTTER: Snort retort leads to arrest abort

NEWS HERALD STAFF REPORT @The_News_Herald
Tuesday Feb 19, 2019 at 7:15 AM
PANAMA CITY BEACH — An honest retort after a snort paid dividends for a woman found asleep in the passenger’s side of a car recently.
A Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputy reported he was flagged down by a woman who said her vehicle’s battery had died in the middle of the road nearby.
The deputy “relocated” to the disabled vehicle and the woman said her cousin was asleep in the passenger’s seat.
“I approached the passenger side of the vehicle and observed her to have white powdery residue on the inside of her left nostril and just above her lip,” the deputy wrote. “I woke her and read her Miranda Rights to her. She admitted post-Miranda that she had just snorted cocaine from a plastic wrapper from cigarette pack.”
The barren plastic wrapper was found on top of the center console.
“Due to her honesty and cooperation, she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on scene with a notice to appear,” the deputy wrote. “The plastic wrapper was submitted as evidence to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.”

Woman Moves Calcutta High Court To Abort 28-Week-Old Foetus

The division bench is likely to deliver its judgment at the beginning of the coming week.
Kolkata:
A 42-year-old woman Friday sought the Calcutta High Court's permission to terminate her 28-week pregnancy after medical reports suggested that her child would be born with Down Syndrome, along with problems in the oesophagus, heart and abdomen.
Her lawyers, Kallol Basu and Apalak Basu, approached the division bench of the court after its single bench refused permission for the abortion.
Stating that losing a child is a mother's worst nightmare, the woman pleaded that her age and financial status will come in the way of giving the child required treatment and care.
The lawyers also told the division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice B Somadder that the child would suffer in absence of proper medical care owing to the family''s humble financial condition.
They said that the petitioner, a homemaker, would approach a registered private facility for the medical process, if permission is granted, as government hospitals are averse to aborting a foetus at such an advanced stage.
Her husband (48) works in a private firm, earning a very modest salary, they reasoned.
The couple have another school-going child who is 13 years old.
The division bench, also comprising Justice Arindam Mukherjee, concluded the hearing and reserved its judgment, which it is likely to be delivered at the beginning of the coming week, given the urgency in the matter.
According to the Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971, permission of high court is required to abort a foetus which is 20 weeks old or more.
A single bench of the high court had on January 29 refused permission to the woman to terminate her pregnancy, when the foetus was 26-week old.
A medical board at the state-run SSKM Hospital had in a report to the court said the prognosis of the baby is likely to be better if it is delivered on completion of the full term of pregnancy.
The board also said test reports have suggested that the foetus was suffering from Down Syndrome, along with defects in the oesophagus, heart and abdomen.
Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty had noted that the report did not mention any threat to the petitioner's life.
