Family remembers boy who lost his life after falling from 3-story apartment

"They loved their little brother, always with him all the time, they do everything together. That's why it's so hard that this tragedy happened. They're really taking it hard too," aunt of Aiden, Corinna Doi, said. "We're trying to take it day by day, it's really hard to accept that he's really not here anymore."

High school swimming: Norman North's Aiden Hayes takes down two iconic records in huge day

EDMOND — Standing beside the pool in a maroon polo shirt with a Jenks logo, Jake Pierce knew his landmark record was in trouble.
For eight years, he held the Class 6A state swim meet’s top time in the 50-yard freestyle. He secretly hoped it would last one more year.
“I thought it was a big thing to tackle,” Pearce said.
Norman North superstar sophomore Aiden Hayes is not an average state meet swimmer, though. He glides under water farther than others and swims at a jaw-dropping pace.
Hayes broke two iconic individual records — blowing past Pearce’s mark and former Westmoore star and Olympic medalist David Plummer's 100-yard backstroke record — and helped Norman North break two relay records to finish second overall Saturday afternoon at Edmond Schools Aquatic Center.
“Those are two idols I’ve had for years,” Hayes said. “They’re very fast swimmers, one of the first people to be extremely fast in Oklahoma. To break those records, means so much.”
Hayes was The Oklahoman’s All-City Swimmer of the Year in 2018. He now has eight gold medals, including relays, in two years.
Saturday, he first helped Norman North swim the 200-yard medley relay in a record 1 minute and 31.61 seconds, nearly 3 seconds better than their mark Friday in the prelims.
