Ann Coulter Jokes ‘We Know Trump’s Telling the Truth’ About Border Wall ‘Because Jussie Smollett Swears He’s Seen It’

Conservative author and political commentator Ann Coulter’s latest tweet criticizing President Donald Trump linked his border wall claims to Empire actor Jussie Smollett, whose credibility has suffered since reports allege he paid two men who allegedly supported “Make America Great Again” to stage an attack on him.
“How do we know Trump's telling the truth about all that new border wall he's already built?” Coulter tweeted on Sunday evening. “Because Jussie Smollett swears he's seen it!”
Coulter’s tweet came a day after Chicago police stated that they had “shifted the trajectory of the investigation” around Smollett’s claim that two masked men punched him in the face on January 29 and said, “This is MAGA [Make America Great Again] country, n*****.” The suspects were paid by Smollett to orchestrate the attack, some reports alleged.
Once a passionate supporter of Trump, Coulter had no problem mocking Smollett. She has become one of Trump’s biggest conservative critics since he agreed to reopen government after the longest government shutdown in history, without any funding he demanded for the wall along the southern border with Mexico.
Coulter strongly opposed a national emergency, which Trump declared on Friday. Late Thursday, Coulter quote tweeted Conservative Review senior editor Daniel Horowitz’s post that “the goal of a national emergency is to end illegal immigration and cartel smuggling” and that 100 to 200 miles of fencing “will not do.”
“No, the goal of a national emergency is for Trump to scam the stupidest people in his base for 2 more years,” Coulter tweeted.
In a following tweet, she elaborated: “The goal is to get Trump's stupidest voters to say ‘HE'S FIGHTING!’ No he's not. If he signs this bill, it's over.”
Coulter, who wrote In Trump We Trust, previously suggested that Trump agreeing to a bipartisan deal providing only $1.375 for 55 miles of new border fencing was evidence that Trump was afraid of the border fight.
“Trump talks a good game on the border wall but it's increasingly clear he's afraid to fight for it. Call this his ‘Yellow New Deal,’” Coulter tweeted.
Coulter has also stated that Trump should face a Republican primary for 2020 if he does not deliver on building the wall, which was his biggest campaign promise.

Unlike Coulter, first son Donald Trump Jr. drew not comparison between his father and Smollett in a tweet bashing the actor on Monday.
“Hey Hollywood and media types, I’ve noticed a lot of you deleted your #JusticeForJussie tweets…” Trump Jr. tweeted. “What’s the matter, don’t you want justice for him anymore??? #frauds.”

Ann Coulter after Trump's order: ‘The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot’

President Trump declared a national emergency to free up funding for his border wall between the U.S and Mexico. But declaring a national emergency isn’t new -- in fact, the use of emergency powers is older than the country itself. USA TODAY, Just the FAQs
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump's announcement Friday that he was declaring a national emergency wasn't received well by all Republicans, none more vocal than Ann Coulter.
The conservative commentator had for weeks been bashing Trump for what she said was him caving to Democrats over his demands for additional funding to construct a wall along the southern border, even calling him the "biggest wimp ever to serve as President of the United States".
On Friday, the bickering made its way into a nationally televised news conference where Trump announced his plans to use executive powers to declare a national emergency to free up billions in funds for the proposed wall.
"Ann Coulter. I don't know her. I hardly know her. I haven't spoken to her in way over a year but the press loves saying Ann Coulter, probably if I did speak to her, she would be very nice," Trump said, adding that she is "off the reservation."

Coulter fired back on Twitter, saying "He seems to think ‘the reservation’ is HIM, not his campaign promises" then in another post adding she wanted Trump's words "memorialized."
She said she did not want to leave the impression that she in any way influenced the White House. "Nor did I have any influence on the captain of the Titanic, the operators of the Hindenburg or the 9/11/2001 Terrorism Prevention Team," she wrote.
She then took it a leap further while appearing on KABC's Morning Drive radio show.
"The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot," Coulter said during the show. She added that she was grateful Trump distanced himself from her.
"Thank god he’s relieved me any responsibility for what he’s been doing," she said, adding "That was the biggest favor anyone could do for me."
President Trump makes the crowd chuckle as he speaks in a singsong manner saying he knows his national emergency declaration is going to lead to a lawsuit, but hopes they'll "get a fair shake." USA TODAY
Trump brought up Coulter during a rambling news conference where he touched on China, North Korea and some of his favorite Fox News hosts.
He was asked after his remarks if conservative media played into his decision making, to which Trump gave shoutouts to some of the big names he likes, including Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, radio host Rush Limbaugh then Coulter.
The president even pointed to coverage he enjoyed on CNN and MSNBC, who he normally rails against as "fake news."
After boasting about the conservative media personalities, Trump was pressed again over whether they affect his policy decisions. "They don't decide policy," Trump said in response.

Ann Coulter Hits Back at Trump: ‘The Only National Emergency Is That Our President Is an Idiot’

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter responded to President Donald Trump’s criticism of her, saying that “the only national emergency is that our president is an idiot.”
Her comments came after Trump declared a national emergency on the southern border, while distancing himself from Coulter.
“Thank God he’s relieved me of any responsibility for what he’s been doing,” Coulter told John Phillips and Jillian Barberie on KABC’s “The Morning Drive” Friday. “That was the biggest favor anyone could do [for] me today.”

“It was one thing, the promise he made every single day at every single speech. Forget the fact that he’s digging his own grave,” Coulter continued. “The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot.”
The White House didn’t immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
Asked about the influence of right-wing personalities on his views earlier on Friday, Trump mentioned Fox News host Sean Hannity and radio talks show host Rush Limbaugh, adding they did not “decide policy.”

But when it came to Coulter, one of his biggest supporters, he said he did not to know her.
“I haven’t spoken to her. I don’t follow her. I don’t talk to her, but the press loves to bring up the name Ann Coulter,” Trump said the Rose Garden Friday morning. “Probably if I did speak to her, she would be very nice, but I just don’t have time to speak to her.”
“She’s off the reservation,” Trump concluded.

Coulter, who wrote 2016’s “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!,” slammed the president for agreeing to sign a bipartisan spending deal.
Coulter also told KABC that she was going to change the title on the paperback version of her book to “In Trump We Trusted.”
“This is the worst open borders the country has ever had under the president who ran against open borders,” she said.
